...Lucerne? I want a technical solution as to why the Series III 3800 motor doesn't get as good mileage as the Series II motor. Any good answers to get better mileage in Lucerne.

when different cars have the same enginge you must take into account the weight of the car, components used to make the engine & tranny, the gear ratios may be set at higher shift points. the lesabre was toned down shift wise due to the nature (luxury) of the car. i have a 02 bonneville n/a and will SMOKE almost anything in the same class. but to get better milage in the lucerne, drive with o/d on, and keep as less amount of ppl in the car as necessary. lol.

ive also wondered about that. The Lucerne is rated exactly as my 97 Regal was rated. My 2000 Lesabre gets 22 in town and 30 or better on the highway.

My 2000 LeSabre, which is heavier than my 06 Lucerne, both with the same engine basically (II and III) and the Lucerne is a pig on gas and gutless when compared to the LeSabre.
