The dealer installed the door sills today for $200. They really didn't know what to charge. I bought them online for $350 delivered. They're starting to get harder to find as GM has discontinued them. They look great but the sill lights are more white than blue. My LED lights are very blue.

The lights don't do well with the camera.....

Nice pics. I must say the illuminated sills do look really sharp! I have them too and so many people have complemented them. You found a good deal too!

When I originally inquired about them shortly after buying my Buick last summer, the same dealer quoted me $700 for the sills with installation. I decided to treat myself to the sills now and then realized I couldn't find them anywhere. The online GM store took a couple of weeks to stock them, and I honestly was expecting an email stating they were no longer available. Fortunately, my dealer didn't know what to charge and quoted me $140 originally (I knew it would be more). The sills are a real PITA to install and they had a kid who has a knack for jobs like this do the work. They also told me it took him awhile. The finished product looks great (even the wife like them)! They become part of the new car warranty, but I can't help but wonder what happens next should the product need replaced because there won't be any to find?

Actualy, the sill lights are very soft which looks completely opposite in the camera. I may now change the LED lights to a cool white to match the sills better. Fortunately, the LED lights are fairly cheap and easy.

Excellent photos. I liked these when they were made for only one year. Do you know why Buick discontinued producing them?

Did you change the interior lights yourself? I see them selling on eBay and was wondering just how easy they are to install. Looking to get the white lights tho.

I ordered the white LEDs from Ebay, installed myself and they work perfectly. Very bright, but not sure if I like them as yet. They have a bit of a flourescent look about them. Will post a PIC soon.

I'm looking to change my blue LED's to aqua blue Leds, to match the color of the dash lighting and the illuminated door sills. My blue LED lights are a true royal blue color and are too dark in comparison.

Can you post LED part numbers for interior lights etc?

Well it seems like we know that the illuminated door sills are longer available. But... just today I got some sort of welcome packet from Buick/Dealership thanking us for buying a new Buick and check out what's on the accessories page... Probably a misprint but I'm calling 🙂

Parts man would very much like to sell them to me but nothing in computer... and that's a NO 🙁 Nevermind.

My dealer says he'll put them in at their hourly rate ($110/hr) if I can find the part somewhere but doesn't know how long it will take (of if the connections for 2012 will be the same as previous years).
Are you still happy you installed these?
What year is your car?
Do all 4 sills come on all together?
When are they on? (whenever the blue interior lights are on or only when the doors open)
If always on, I guess that means on long night drives they are on but hidden because the door is closed? Any light leakage?
Are they still working?

Thanks!

They look great (at night). They light up only when you open the door(s). All four come together and light up. The connections should all be the same. The install labor costs are probably going to be $200+. It's pricey....but you only have to do it once and enjoy for many years to come.

I would very much like to read a copy of that 12 page instruction booklet. If anyone has it or can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it. A .PDF copy would be great.

Couldn't resist, purchased a set off Ebay. Maybe a bit impulsive, but if it weren't for my that piece of my personality, my wife would still be single 🙂 I'll let you all know if I get it done or toss them in a closet after having a look at them and perusing any literature I can find. Dealer claims he's happy to do it but will need to charge his hourly rates. He thinks $200-$250 should do it. Others seem to think more like $400. I'm hoping they will come with instructions or that I can find them somewhere. So far my internet search has come up empty, I sent a PM to Customer Service- Maybe Tricia can help dig up the docs. I don't think I want the dealer just shooting from the hip after talking with Duck and Kcrnmale about computer reprogramming and whatnot.

Thanks for everyone's help, we'll see where this goes.

I finally tracked down the installation instructions. I've scanned it to PDF and uploaded it to a file sharing site in case anyone would like to see the steps required to install the Illuminated Door Sills- it's 13 pages. In it's most basic form it's basically removing a lot of trim pieces and then some careful measuring for some wire routing holes. Connect to power and sticky tape down the lights. I'm sure it'll take them a while and will cost a bunch but it shouldn't be anything a dealer couldn't handle. It looks more time consuming than difficult. I'll post back after any more progress.

Here's the link to the PDF... 2010-2012 Buick LaCrosse Illuminated Door Sill Plates 19202029 Instructions.PDF I don't know how long this file sharing service will keep the link active. If in the future someone comes across this post feel free to PM me and ask for a copy.
