Toyota Highlander Commercial Disses RMW!

Love it. I love that the car I am hunting for a daily driver, is a nerdly lame mobile, that only a parent would drive.

I'm a parent, and I wouldn't trade my RMW for that Highlander. We'll, perhaps I would. I'd sell the Toyota, and buy 4 pristine Roadmasters with the money! My RMW rides better, handles better, looks better, has more power, certainly gets better gas mileage, and costs a whole lot less to fix!
I wonder if the auto makers will ever "wake up"!

Very doubtfull. The yuppie soccer mom market has been very good since the early 90's, and it looks like it is going to remain that way. You can thank vehicles like this, for the death of the B-body line. It's also going to be the death of the Ford Crown Vic, and Lincoln Town Car. Lincoln is talking about replacing the Town Car with a cross over/ SUV like that.

I don't want a Toyota Highlander, I just want to be able to afford one! I would take that wagon any day.

My brand new focus just got wailed in a parking lot by some a-hole in a truck. Hit it so hard it moved the car 2 feet. 7600 miles on it. drove the hitch thru the bumper, bumper support and condenser. I'm not buying any more new cars. going to get a fleet of RM's. Maybe it would have f'ed up his truck enough that he couldn't drive away.

This time the slopes at Toyota have gone too far!

Hmmm...

Base 2011 Highlander SE
Curb Weight: 3946 lbs
HP: 187
Torque: 186
Maximum Seating: 7

Base 1994 RMW
Curb Weight: 4572 lbs
HP: 260
Torque: 330
Maximum Seating: 8

Lessee...that makes an extra 73 hp and 144 lb ft to carry around the extra weight. Given that my old 69 hp 53 lb ft motorcycle used to carry its 500+ lb and 200+ lb me from 0-60 in about 4 seconds...

I believe I'll take the Buick, please.

It's hard to believe that the Highlander comes in that light. Are they now making the frames from polystyrene?

I gotta say I love rolling up to my son's hockey games in a clean 94 RMW, when every other parent is pushing a jellybean shaped crossover. But even better is changing my daughter's diaper in the middle of a busy parking lot, right on the tailgate. Its the perfect height for a road trip change table, and it even has a built in sunshade.

yea that kid is annoying, and why does he have to wiggle his bitch ass little head whiles he's talkin too.. pisses me off... lol

That kid had some skills jumping in the back window!:headbang:

I bet the Roadmaster would outlive the Highlander. Hopefully it ended up in good hands after that commercial was filmed.

My response to Toyota Corporation is this video, at 1:42 on the clip.

HA, looks like they completely removed the window on that RMW before the kid jumped in. Last I checked, only the RMS had rear windows that went all the way down. I noticed this earlier today, when I saw the commercial on TV.

American rear wheel drive sedans & wagons...what happened? We all know a station wagon (or a mini-van) is more practical and safer to drive than either a SUV or a Cross-over. A station wagon is less likely to roll over and gets better millage (unless I'm driving it) than either a SUV or a Cross-over. The lower bumber height of a wagon makes it less likely in a crash that it will "ramp-up" the other vehicle & into it's passenger compartment. The back of a wagon like a Buick is as big and more usefull than many midsize truck beds. I think the big-3 automakers could combine the Cross-over and the SUV designs to create the SUX-over vehicle, cuz like it sux-all-over.

Ford has basically already signed both cars death warrant. The Crown Vic is now only available for fleet purchase. I haven't heard anything specific on the TC recently, but I'm sure it's on it's last leg too.

They cater to what sells, what will sell, and what has the highest profit margins. RWD sedans and wagons were not profitable enough. They were not selling enough of them either. Unfortunately, it's a mass customer driven decision... And as we all know, most of America is brain washed, and mentally challenged. Especially when it comes to not jumping on the band wagon.
