33mpg?????

hey guys. we just replaced the maf sensor, and the throttle position sensor on our 99 park ave. it went from 14 mpg with the bad sensor to 33 highway, and 30 going 25mph? i hit the reset button on the dash and it went from 99 down to 33 in a few miles ( i reset it going down the highway) then after being confused because i was going 120, and apparently every one else was to i realized it was in metric. i switched it to American (still on the highway) thats when it went down to 33. anyway, i rode for 10 mins on the highway and 10 on surface roads going 35-25 and i parked and it said avg mileage is 29.9 wich is higher than its ever been. is the computer over compensating? buick said they would reset the computer for free, because they're mechanic left the maf sensor unplugged. (old sensor)

not over compensating. It only takes the PCM a drive or two to make adjustments. If there were an issue (lean or something) you'd get a CEL.

ok, thanks alot. its getting the cel cause the sensor was unplugged, and it needs reset. ill let ya know monday when buick opens and we reset it.

there is no reset needed. Plug the MAF in and after 3-4 drive cycles CEL will clear itself. No need to pay Buick Dealership $80 to reset it.

no buick said they will do it free of charge, because they didnt plug in the maf sensor. might as well get it done for free ha ha

plus it gives me a reaso to drive it lol. i like my ma's century and all but i love how i dont have to adjust the mirrors in my dads car. i just push the clicker and they adjust themselves lol.
